COMPRESSOR ALIGNMENT IN WHICH THE MOTOR WAS IN BETWEEN TWO COMPRESSORS AND WAS THE ONLY MOVEABLE MACHINE. THE MAIN COMPRESSOR THERMAL GROWTH WAS .025 AND THE BOOSTER COMPRESSOR WAS .022. THERE WERE 30 INCH SPACER SHAFTS BETWEEN THE MOTOR AND THE COMPRESSORS.
WE UTILIZED THE MULTI-COUPLING FUNCTION THAT ALLOWS THE USER TO SET UP SENSORS AT EACH COUPLING. THIS OPTION SAVED A TON OF TIME BECAUSE THE 4500HP MOTOR WAS NOT EASY TO TURN. WE ROTATED THE SHAFT ONCE AND THE ROTALIGN ULTRA IS QUICKLY SHOWED HOW ALL 3 SHAFTS SET RELATIVE TO ONE ANOTHER.
I THEN USED THE MOVE SIMULATOR TO PUT IN WHAT-IF SCENARIOS FOR OPTIMAL SHIMMING CORRECTIONS. I FOUND A COMBINATION OF SHIMMING CORRECTIONS THAT GOT THE ALIGNMENT IN TOLERANCE AT BOTH COUPLINGS. IT WAS ALSO NICE THAT THE ROTALIGN ALLOWED ME TO PUT IN 3 SETS OF FEET ON THE MOTOR.
AFTER THE ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED TO SPEC USING THE THERMAL GROWTH TARGETS, WE RAN THE MACHINE AND DID A HOT ALIGNMENT CHECK TO CONFIRM THE ALIGNMENT TARGETS WERE THE PROPER TARGETS.
ANOTHER EXCELLENT ALIGNMENT PERFORMED BY THE BEST ALIGNMENT TOOL ON THE MARKET. THE ALIGNMENT REPORT WAS THEN SAVED AS A PDF FILE.
